Joyce Ogunyemi is an International Development and Education expert and a British qualified teacher (PGCE Maths Specialist). Before her teaching career, Joyce devoted over 20 years in the international development sector to environmental conservation and sustainable development causes, justice sector reform and policy development, human rights advocacy, fundraising/donor relation and implementation of intervention programmes. As an education consultant, Joyce worked in Rwanda where she assessed the quality of an educational programme and delivery method to ensure the quality of provision. She was also a researcher with the National Universities Commission Abuja where she assessed the quality of tools used in the accreditation of programmes in Nigerian universities.
Joyce's heart is to advocate and influence policy for improved quality of educational provision at all levels of learning and to educate teachers to teach from a learner - centered perspective. She is passionate about empowering people from disadvantaged backgrounds in a bid to achieve holistic development. Joyce continues to record positive levels of engagement with learners from all walks of life including prisoners in a category B male prison in Manchester. Her professional doctoral research at the University of Bristol UK examines the proliferation of private universities in Nigeria and how this is changing the higher education landscape. Joyce is an active alumna of UCL, Institute of Education and Trinity College Dublin.
